June. The end of this month brought school holidays which means relaxed mornings – no frantic packing of school lunches or searching for homework. We live a five minute walk from school but still get there just on time! I also managed a few days in Cairns, a welcome break from the cold weather snap.
There were plenty more happy moments in June. Here are some of them. 🙂

The start of June saw me tag along on the kid’s school excursion. We went to the local Alpaca farm. Seeing those cute Alpacas and the kids excitement as they fed them Alpaca food made for a happy Friday.

These tangelos and mandarins made for delicious juice. Keeping the winter bugs away!

The garden is where I can take five minutes to regroup. Powder puff flowers always make me smile.

Finding rhubarb at the local markets got me excited. I haven’t had rhubarb for a long time but remember how delicious stewed rhubarb and apple was. That week I had stewed rhubarb and apple every morning on my porridge. Yum!

Seeing this kangaroo in a suburban garden. He looked quite happy nibbling on the grass.

Gympie is a historic town and full of public gardens. We found this one while we were waiting for a dental appointment. Better waiting out in the sun than in the waiting room.

Thursday night has become our family churros night. Bonding over these tasty treats – yes please 🙂

Finally getting baked pumpkin seeds right….these make for an addictive snack.

Love early mornings in the garden. That peace before the world wakes up and noticing flowers that will unfurl their beauty as the day goes on.

I had the pleasure of having this little cutie as my walking companion while in Cairns. His name was Mickey and I made a friend as soon as I took him for his first walk!

The vibrant red of tropical blooms. Ixora is a such a showy flower.

Watching a group of pelicans – they seemed so serene gliding along the water.

Getting to spend a few hours at Cairns Botanical Gardens – early morning so I had the place to myself and took loads of pics like this gorgeous water lily.

The morning after Winter Solstice. The sky was magical and full moon still in the sky. Great way to start my day.
