Beekeeping Tips: Bees and Their Lifestyle
It was there that I met Glenbo who belongs to a group called Valley Bees, a group that loves bees and all things related…what interested me was the diversity of bee types…I thought that bees all liked to live together in a hive but no, there is the native solitary bee which if you can create a habitat for in your garden, is a great little pollinator for your flowers.
On display were, what I like to think of as ‘little bee houses’ which you can build to attract native bees to your garden as they will need a place to live. Glenbo described how you could make them and there is an excellent picture (pg 28 in the pdf below) of examples, they are quite creative and some of them could even be garden art.
Planting and creating habitat to attract bees is a fantastic resource if you are interested in doing this. It is quite an extensive pdf but the pictures are amazing and the content informative. Thanks to Glenbo and the Valley Bees for creating this document.

I believe that our local bees have a bright future due to groups like the Valley Bees and the passionate members in them. If you are interested in finding out more about this group, their contact details are on the last page of the pdf above.
